£13,000 raised at our charity golf day!

We’re pleased to announce that we raised nearly £13,000 at our charity golf day last month.  This was our 29th year of our annual fundraiser held at the beautiful Heaton Moor Golf Club.

We were extremely lucky with the fantastic weather and everyone had an amazing day. The teams were all in great spirits and created a fantastic atmosphere.  One team said “We had a top day and we’re thankful to have the opportunity to support such a great cause.”

We were delighted to be joined by so many of the people who use our services.  Residents from Cheddle Lodge our residential care home, people who use our 1-2-1 community service across Stockport and our day service in Heaton Moor came along to join in the fun.  They really enjoyed  taking part in the accessible disability golfing session and meeting  players and volunteers in the clubhouse.

One of our day services attendees Rob Cooper spent the day with us as assistant photographer, helping with raffle ticket sales and made a powerful after-dinner speech about his lived experience of the Supportability services and how our support has enabled him to move out and host his own weekly radio show.  We’re very grateful to him for coming and we all absolutely loved having him play such a huge part in the day.

Kaylie Chapman, Head of Fundraising said “We had such an amazing day and we’re so pleased to have raised so much for our charity.  The money raised makes a big difference to the work we do providing support services for local people with complex disabilities, and their families’.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors including our main sponsor ACS Construction Group, co-sponsors Cardinal Global Logistics and Penn White, disability golf sponsor Catax Group and all of our hole sponsors.  We’d also like to extend our thanks to all the teams who took part and to those who participated in our raffle, mini competition and silent auction as well as all the prize donors.  Without everyone’s generosity, we wouldn’t have raised what we did.  Special thanks to Heaton Moor Golf Club for hosting our event again this year.  And finally, thanks so much to all our volunteers who gave their time to help with the planning, organising and running of the day.

We’re happy to say that we’ve already set the date for next year’s event which will not only be our 30th year of the golf day but our 70th year of our charity.  This will be held on Friday 7th July at Heaton Moor Golf Club, and  our waiting list is now open- https://register.enthuse.com/ps/event/SupportabilityGolfDay202330thAnniversary
