We provide valuable support every year to disabled children, young people, adults and their carers but we always welcome the time and effort that our volunteers bring.
From cheering on a marathon runner to helping our fundraising team at a local event, any time and support you can provide will be truly appreciated. It doesn’t matter if it’s only a few hours – each and every hour is equally valued.
Volunteering with us is a great way to learn new skills, make friends and be part of a fantastic team that really make a difference to people’s lives.
Our volunteers are an essential part of our Charity. And we understand with today’s pace of life, it’s sometimes difficult to find the time to volunteer.
However, volunteering can be a rewarding activity and bring real benefits to those who are able to donate even a little of their time.
Volunteering can mean finding and developing new friendships, getting involved in the local community or learning new skills that could even enhance your career.
Don’t just take our word for it that volunteering is rewarding, our volunteers share their experiences of helping at a recent running event:
“When the opportunity came through to volunteer as a marshal at the Wizard 5, it was a no-brainer for me. I’ve always been a runner and I wanted to help other runners, but more importantly, help raise money for the wonderful charity, Supportability. It was hugely inspiring watching runners of different ability on a very hot evening and I was proud to wear the pink vest.”
“As a runner who has regularly taken part in races, I am very grateful to volunteers and have first hand experience of countless people who have given up their spare time to help me have the best race experience I can have. So when the opportunity arose through GoodGym (A community of runners that combine getting fit whilst doing good) to volunteer at the Wizard 5, I jumped at the chance to give back. Running has helped me so much with my own personal mental health challenges over the years. I feel a sense of belonging when I’m around fellow runners and especially in races when volunteers and organisers come together to support you through it as well. It’s a wonderful feeling to be on the other side, as a volunteer, and help make other runner’s race experience feel as great as mine have been”
Thanks to all our volunteers!
As part of #StockportVolunteersWeek, we said a heart-felt thanks to all our wonderful volunteers.
