You guessed it … Newsroom is back!

For some context behind the episode – Zai and Lizzie (who are both staff members at Supportability) came together to brainstorm ways in which they could bring the Newsroom back to life. When the idea of creating a Newsroom Show came about, Lizzie expressed this to the people we support. Two very keen members of the Supportability community were Peter and Nicky, who have both been attending Supportability for a while now.
In preparation for the session, Lizzie and Peter went out for an afternoon walk, where they discussed some of the topics that they would plan to talk about. Peter finds it easier to communicate and express himself this way, and Lizzie is aware of this so she made sure to accomodate his needs. We filmed Peters interview in the Art Room – a quiet and calming space for the people we support to relax and express themselves creatively. Peter goes on to talk about some of his recent activities and mentions some of his favourite staff members.
Nicky had shown her interest in the Newsroom, and had specifically told Lizzie that she wanted to share some of the Makaton signs that she was proud to have learnt. In this interview, Nicky mentions how ‘signing’ helps her communicate better with staff members – which is valuable feedback to ensure that we’re all continuing to learn and develop our skills as staff members at Supportability. Nicky encourages people to join Supportability, as she enjoys meeting new people.
