We offer weekly cycling opportunities throughout the year for disabled adults, children and young people at Woodbank Park in Stockport. There are a variety of adapted cycles to enable people of all abilities to experience and enjoy cycling.
- Sessions take place in a safe, car-free environment away from any roads.
- We have bikes for both children and adults.
- As well as a fleet of 24 regular bikes, we have 36 specially adapted cycles and trikes such as hand cycles and side-by-side bikes.
- We can help everyone find the right bike to meet their need (please note that our cycles are not compatible with powered wheel chairs due to weight restrictions).
- There are light refreshments available in the café in a trackside building where people can have a cup of tea and a chat.
- This also benefits carers as they have an opportunity to chat with other carers as well as taking part in the cycling sessions.
- On Thursdays and Fridays, Wheelers sessions are primarily for people with disabilities, but on Saturdays, anyone can join in and ride a bike on the track.
“We love Wheelers – we have a great time and we can do something all together as a family which we find really hard to do”, Carer.
“I really love doing it, cause it gets me out of this chair,” Wheelchair user.
